Dec6SWR wins contract for MET police vehicles

Waste management company SWR, has won a contract within the Support Services arm of Babcock, Emergency and Critical Services, a leading mobile assets organisation in the UK that operates and maintains assets for key public services within the blue light sector. The contract will involve managing both dry and hazardous waste created from the repair and maintenance of Metropolitan Police vehicles in London.


The deal will save Babcock in the region of 15 percent on its current waste disposal costs, with all waste managed under a single, simplified contract. SWR will also provide regular reporting on waste and recycling statistics to support Babcock’s strong environmental policy.

Bob Harrison, Health & Safety and Environment Manager at Babcock said: “The simplicity that SWR’s consolidated service brings will have a hugely positive impact at an operational level as we now only have to deal with one supplier. It also has benefits at a strategic level as we are now able to clearly demonstrate responsible waste disposal and recycling. We are really impressed with the detailed reporting SWR is able to produce and believe their business model for the sustainable management of our waste will complement our existing environmental policy perfectly.”


SWR’s Head of Business Development, Richard Brown, said: “SWR is the only waste management company with services designed specifically for the automotive sector, and we currently service 18 of the UK’s top 20 bodyshops. We will draw on this expertise in supporting Babcock to maximise their recycling and minimise the carbon footprint accruing from their waste, which is key to SWR’s philosophy.”
