Jun20SWR puts Ridgeway’s environmental policy into top gear
SWR has won the waste contract for one of the UK’s leading dealership groups, Ridgeway.
At the end of 2010, Ridgeway took the opportunity to completely review its waste strategy and needed a company to help improve the Group’s recycling levels to a figure close to 70 percent.
Group Purchasing and Procurement Manager at Ridgeway, David Ninnes, said: “Our ethos is centred on delivering the highest standards of service in everything we do for our customers. This level of quality must also permeate throughout our entire supply chain, and everyone that works with Ridgeway must adhere to our high standards.
“We have a duty to our stakeholders to ensure that we are maximising every opportunity to recycle our waste and to be environmentally conscious in our decision-making processes. Even though we were getting a very competitive price from our previous waste contractor, the service and strategy they offered was missing. So we approached SWR, who came highly recommended for their specialist knowledge of the automotive sector.”
SWR will manage the dry waste (including paper, card, plastic, metal, wood, glass, packaging, and residual general waste), from all of Ridgeway’s dealerships across the South. By utilising a combination of SWR’s in-house collections service and a judicious use of selected sub-contractors, SWR will establish a new streamlined waste operation, under a single simplified contract.
The new slick operation will allow for far superior environmental performance, with a much improved service level and pricing structure.
SWR will also provide detailed reporting on Ridgeway’s recycling performance, which will enable them to monitor their progress and demonstrate their green credentials to customers and stakeholders.
David Ninnes, said: “We have been extremely pleased so far with SWR’s approach. They have already transformed our waste programme, and were able to do this at a very competitive price.”
