Nov8SWR drive forward new waste management strategy for Inchcape Retail

SWR has signed a new deal with one of the UK’s largest motor dealerships, Inchcape Retail.

With more than 130 dealerships across the UK, Inchcape has adopted a new bespoke waste management plan, developed by SWR, throughout all of its sites in a bid to increase recycling and reduce costs.

The new streamlined waste management process is expected to yield immediate savings in the region of 20 percent, as the company improves its recycling performance and reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill.

Richard Brown, head of SWR’s Automotive Division, said: “The automotive industry produces a lot of bulky waste, which can be costly and difficult to dispose of. With Landfill Tax prices set to continue to rise to £72 a tonne by 2013, it is increasingly important to divert as much waste away from landfill as possible.

“Aside from the cost, organisations have an environmental responsibility to dispose of their waste in an appropriate way and Inchcape is leading by example in this respect.”

SWR will also help to simplify the waste management process by amalgamating the company’s existing numerous waste contracts into one simplified agreement. This takes away the hassle of managing several companies and multiple monthly invoicing.

Procurement Manager at Inchcape Mercedes Retail, David Hall, said: “Inchcape has an outstanding reputation for quality and service. This is more than about selling quality cars, but something that permeates throughout the entire business. Adopting innovative solutions in our processes and procedures, which includes the way in which we manage our waste, helps us to meet the exceptionally high standards we set ourselves.

“It is also important for us to be able to highlight our environmental credentials to our stakeholders, which has in the past proved difficult. SWR’s detailed quarterly reporting shows us in a simple format how we are performing in terms of our recycling and carbon footprint levels.”
